A Lightning Protection System is considered to be the most effective measure for protection of structures against physical damage. There are a variety of different systems including Lightning Conductors that our operatives are highly trained in installing to meet our customers' needs. We will provide an installation service which is cost effective, efficient and will ensure a quality system.
The design of an effective lightning protection system will take into account the physical constraints present which will determine the level and positioning of the system and TW Lightning Protection operatives will work with you to ensure that the characteristics of the structure to be protected are made available to ensure the most appropriate lightning protection system is designed to enable proper consideration of the possible utilization of metallic parts of the structure as parts of the lightning protection system.
TW Lightning Protection Ltd install the traditional lightning protection Faraday Cage System but we also install an alternative Early Streamer Emission Lightning Conductor systems - Helta Pulsar and Indelec Prevectrons to meet customer needs, for example on heritage properties where traditional systems are unable to be fitted.
For example a Faraday Cage System will usually be an air termination system composed of any combination of the following elements: lightning conductors, mechanical clamps and down conductors fixed to structures and where applicable if there is extensive electronic equipment these will require bonding conductors to be installed as well to the lightning protection system. At ground level earth positions will be installed and earth electrode lightning conductors will be connected and housed in a housing inspection unit for further testing and inspection.
Another example is the installation of an Early Streamer Emission Lightning Conductor system which will usually consist of one or more Early Streamer Emission air terminals which will be situated ahead of any other protruding point within the protected areas ensuring it will be the preferential point of impact for the lightning discharge along with a combination of bonding conductors, lightning Conductors and ground systems.
TW Lightning Protection Ltd can offer several methods of measuring soil resistance as soil quality can vary a lot depending on the depth and width of the area. TW Lightning Protection Ltd operatives will carry out a survey to measure the capacity of the ground to carry an electrical current. Accurate soil resistance readings are essential as resistivity measurements will affect the overall transmission system.
